3 billion people wear flip flops. Invariably, these are replaced every year or two. Billions find their way to landfill, with millions entering the ocean. A social enterprise, Ocean Sole, purchases flip flops that have been collected from Kenya’s seashore. These are cleaned, processed and carved into animal and other shapes. The production of this shamrock therefore means there is one less green flip flop floating in our oceans. It was especially made by them for distribution at our event tonight.
